One tip to keep in mind. If you have been using Sony minidv tapes all along in your camera, you don't want to suddenly switch to another brand. For example changing to Panasonic minidv tapes after you have been using Sony can present some problems for you. The reason is the difference in chemicals used on the tapes themselves. There is a possibility of interaction on the rollers inside your video camera causing things to gum up a bit.
